NAB ANNOUNCES CRYSTAL RADIO AWARD WINNERS

Las Vegas, NV, April 7, 1998 — The National Association of Broadcasters has named the ten winners of the NAB Crystal Radio Award competition. Established in 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Award recognizes radio stations’ efforts to improve the quality of life in their surrounding communities. Selected from a pool of 44 finalists, the following 10 stations were given the award today:

KUZZ‑AM/FM, Bakersfield, CA

KVFD‑AM, Fort Dodge, IA

KWSN‑AM, Sioux Falls, SD

WIBC‑AM, Indianapolis, IN

WKVI‑AM/FM, Knox, IN

WLEN‑FM, Adrian, MI

WUSL‑FM, Philadelphia, PA

WUSY‑FM, Chattanooga, TN

“The strength of broadcasting is service to communities and these local stations are the best of the best and deserve the industry’s congratulations,” stated NAB President & CEO Edward O. Fritts.

The awards were presented today during the Radio Luncheon at NAB’s annual spring convention. The luncheon also featured a keynote speech by C.W. Metcalf, humorist and best‑selling author, and the induction of Rush Limbaugh into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

NAB98 runs through April 9 in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Sands Expo Convention Center. NAB serves and represents America’s radio and television stations, and all major networks.
